I love white denim. It’s light, fresh and always chic. It instantly elevates any ensemble with an minimalist gleam. The perfect pair of slim white jeans can take you anywhere. The only downside? White denim will also show everywhere you’ve been.

By the end of the day, your white denim may not be looking quite as white, a slosh of coffee from bumping through the morning commute, a smear of sauce from lunch, and maybe that bottom is looking a little dingy from hoping in and out of cabs. Keeping white denim looking clean and crisp can be daunting but you don’t have to live in fear of spills and stains. Read on and follow these laundering tips and calm your white jean woes.

Here are 5 tips to keep your white denim bright and white!

Eat with a napkin on your lap
This has saved me so many times I can’t even tell you. Whenever you eat just lay your napkin across your lap, and if anything happens to accidentally fall, you’ll be protected!

Be ready to treat stains
White denim can seem like a magnet for stains, attracting all kinds of dirt and debris. If you have an accidental spill on your piece, be sure to treat it immediately. If you’re on-the-go or at work, keep a stain stick handy in your purse or at your desk. If you’re without a stain stick, treat the area with a little bit of warm water and a touch of clear soap.

Keep your white jeans separate in the wash
Wash your white denim pieces separately from other items in your laundry. This simple step can preserve the quality of the white color and keep it extra stark!

Don’t bleach!
Do NOT reach for chlorine bleach! Not only is bleach terrible for our health and the environment, but it weakens and ultimately yellows fabric.

Store your white denim inside out
You should be washing your white denim inside out too, but storing them inside out prevents darker denim from rubbing off or dust collecting on them and yellowing.
