Now that Christmas is over, it’s time to look forward to the new year! New year means a new season and of course new colors!
Every year, Pantone polls designers and brands about colors they’re featuring to aid in its decision for what hue will tinge the next 12 months. For 2013, the company has bestowed the distinction of Color of the Year on the shade its database identifies as 17-5641: Emerald Green. It’s lively, radiant, lush… a color of elegance and beauty that enhances a sense of well-being, balance and harmony.
The spring pantone for 2013 is full of soft, yet lively colors perfect for welcoming the spring season. It’s quite a contrast to the rich saturated colors of fall and winter and the vibrant neons of the the previous spring and summer. The new spring pantone seems like a natural transition from the colors of 2012. My favorites of the season are the grayed jade, monaco blue, and tidal foam. The most prevalent colors are certainly the greens and emeralds creating an invigorating, lively backdrop, yet still remaining elegant.
Many of the spring 2013 pantone colors still pair well with many of the fall/winter 2012 colors. Spring is just around the corner, so start updating your wardrobe with a few key pieces in the emerald and soft blue family, and adding neutrals like the linen, tidal foam and alloy.
What are your favorite colors from the spring 2013 pantone? Do you think that emerald will be a real hit this year?
