A few weeks ago, I decided to purchase a Givenchy Teint Couture Long-Wearing Fluid Foundation. It has actually been years since I’ve used a traditional liquid foundation. I discovered mineral foundation about 5 years ago and I’ve happily stuck to it since because of its ease of application and skin care benefits. But with my up coming wedding and my recent engagement photos, I was looking for something to give my skin that picture perfect flawless look.
My skin is on the sensitive side, with combination skin type – slightly oily t-zone, nose, & chin and sometimes dry cheeks. I don’t break out often, but using the wrong products over a period of time can result in acne/blackheads and sometimes allergic reactions. So it’s especially important for me to try products like foundations and skincare over a period of time to make sure they’re suitable for me. I used Givenchy Teint Couture for about a month for about 2-3 days out of the week and I have to say I’m pretty happy with it.
Keep on reading to get the my full breakdown of the review, including my thoughts on its coverage, staying power, texture, packaging, and price.
Givenchy Teint Couture Long-Wearing Fluid Foundation Review:
Coverage: I would say for me, the Givenchy Teint Couture is a medium coverage foundation. I found it very buildable while maintaining a true skin-like texture. I only needed small amount to cover my full face, maybe full pump or even a little less for a day time look. It worked well to conceal dark spots, as well as blemishes, and worked well under the rest of my makeup to create a base to work with.
Texture: I thoroughly enjoyed the texture, it went on silky smooth and felt refined with a medium viscosity. As it set on my skin, it had almost a soft powdery feel, but with a satin finish that seem to almost blur any imperfections.
Staying Power: With my primer (Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer), this definitely lasts through a 10 hour day with little-to-no touchups. By itself, I found that it still did pretty well, though I would notice a little shine in my t-zone area and nose area that was easily corrected with some blotting paper. Regardless, I have to say I was still happy with the look of my skin at the end of the day.
Smell & Scent: There was a very light fresh scent (that was almost a little floral) from this foundation. With fairly sensitive skin, I’m typically not a big fan of scents especially on products that go on my skin, but I actually quite enjoyed it, and it seem to dissipate quite quickly once the foundation set.
Sensitivity: It definitely pass the sensitivity test for me. This foundation didn’t irritate my skin at all and it didn’t break me out either. I did find it maybe a little drying on some of my dry skin areas, but overall it sat well on my skin.
Bottle & Packaging: Givenchy Teint Couture Long-Wearing Fluid Foundation comes in a classy looking bottle with a silver top. It’s a perfect size for travel and the pump was great. It dispenses just the right amount to cover my full face in one pump, and I could even adjust the amount with a more gentle pump.
Price: Being priced at $59 (Canadian) and for an 0.8 Oz (23.7ml) bottle, the Givenchy Teint Couture is slightly on the pricier side. But I certainly feel like it was it was worth the price. It didn’t require much to cover my full face, and the quality of the product was definitely worth the price.
Overall thoughts: I would definitely be recommend the Givenchy Teint Couture Long-Wearing Fluid Foundation. What really sold me was the finished look of my skin, it looked completely flawless, yet very natural. I might have liked it to be a little lighter in coverage, but overall I felt like it created a great canvas for the rest of my makeup.

November 3, 2019Missy, I have adored this Givenchy foundation for the same reasons that you posted about and have the same skin type. Since this foundation has been discontinued, can you comment on what you have found to be just as good or better?

November 8, 2019Hi Dale, I’ve been using the Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation and been loving it. It provides all day long coverage with soft matte finish. Plus I love how they have such a huge range of skintones so you can get the perfect match.

November 10, 2014Thank you for such a thorough review and congrats on your upcoming wedding! I would be interested to try this foundation as it sounds like we have a similar skin type. Did you try a setting powder at all? Just curious how much different the foundation would perform.
Eileen
November 10, 2014Thanks Jen! I did use a setting powder on a few occasions for nights out. The powder did help with the extra oiliness, but at times I felt like it was a little to heavy for me with the extra layer. But I think overall it did help with lasting power. 🙂
Cheers,
Eileen
