Mini Bedroom Makeover

My bedroom is my favourite place in my home. It’s a sanctuary for my dreams at night, and workspace for those morning emails, and just place relax and hang out on the weekends. So when it comes to getting comfy, great bedding is a must. During my college years, I lived off Ikea bedding, and sure, it did the job, but now that I’m a real adult I’ve begun to appreciate the quality of things, like good bedding and bedsheets. Skylark + Owl Linen Co. is a proudly Canadian premium bedding company that produces bedsheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and throw blankets. And what’s even better is their products are ethically sourced and produced! So I’ve partnered up with them to give a little makeover to my favourite room in the home.

Which Set Did I Get?

Skylark + Owl Linen have 2 types of sheets: Percale and Sateen. The Percal sheets have a matte finish and a cool, crisp feel. They’re light soft and durable, lightweight and breathable, making it especially forgiving for those of you that are hot sleepers. The Sateen sheets have a silky-soft feel and luminous sheen and heavier in weight than Percale, making them warmer and softer for all around year use.

Since I love being cozy,  so I chose Refined Collection Sateen Sheet Set in warm grey and the Refined Collection Sateen Duvet Cover white. They have the soft sheen without looking too shiny, and were so smooth and soft to touch. My package arrived neatly packed in a nice box, tucked in a reusable tote bag sewn from surplus fabric that would otherwise go into the landfill. It’s the small touches like striving to use less plastic and using ethical practices in manufacturing that show what kind of company they are and the change they’re trying to make in the world.

What Do the Sheets Feel Like?

These sheets are sateen, and so they have that silky smooth feel that’s warm and cozy. For me the strike a good balance of warmth while not being too heavy.  They’re made from 100% Egyptian cotton with a 400 thread count, which is a great long-staple cotton and certainly high quality. Sleeping in them have been cozy and comfortable, and for such cozy sheets I find them still very breathable which allows me to sleep comfortably through the night.

I also like all the detail that went into designing the sheets. The fitted sheets have a generous 15″ depth and the pillowcases have an envelope style closure that looks clean and stays in place. I also find the hand slits in the duvet cover very useful, so it’s easily put your duvet back in place if it moves around.

Overall I’ve really been loving the Skylark and Owl Linen Co sheet and bedding. The bedding is soft, warm and comfortable and make my bed feel extra inviting. I also love that they’re a Canadian company utilizes ethical practices and an eco friendly manufacturing process so that no harmful chemicals or substances used in the production. It really means a lot to me that the products I use not only high quality and long lasting, but come from made in a way that is sustainable and ethical.
