I Used a Boar Bristle Brush for 14 Days and This is What Happened
After 2 weeks of using a boar bristle brush, I can honestly say it has made a big difference to my hair. Overall, I found my hair to look shinier, feel smoother, and just generally healthier.
When I’m brushing my hair with a boar bristle brush, I noticed it was much more gentle and the boar bristles had much more give to them.
I found much less breakage especially when it comes to brushing out knots on the dry ends of my hair that often tangle.
Another great boar bristle brush benefit was it help a lot with my greasy roots and dry ends problem.
Bonus, sometimes I even give myself a little massage scalp massage with my brush and it’s oh-so-nice!
The only thing I did have against my boar bristle brush was a little static when my hair was freshly washed. But overall it didn’t bother me as much as I loved it.
Best Boar Bristle Brushes
Since I was in the market for both a round brush and regular brush, I took ended up purchased these three Spornette boar bristle brushes shown above. Spornette Brushes offer good quality natural boar bristle brushes on the less expensive end of the spectrum.
They are a great option for trying out boar bristle brushes if you haven’t used them before. The oval pin cushion brush (left) I use for regular daily brushing, the round brush for blow outs, and the little wonder brush for teasing, and getting out tougher tangles.
If you’re already a boar bristle brush fan, the Mason Pearson boar bristle brush is the creme dela creme of boar bristle brushes that all the beauty gurus adore.
The Mason Pearson brush is definitely a splurge purchase, but after using my boar bristle brushes I can see the value behind it, and I would definitely get it next time around!
It should be noted that boar bristle brushes are probably best for fine to medium hair. If you have normal to thick hair, you may need stronger bristles to brush through your hair.
