It’s officially sandal season again! So get those pedi’s and show off your toes in a cute pair of summer sandals. This year, I’ve decided to take one of my old summer wedges and give it a little DIY makeover. This is great way to revamp your old summer sandals, instead of buying a new pair.
I love these wedges and though they still had a lot of life in them, I just wasn’t feeling the fabric patten anymore. So with a little fabric paint, glue and trim, I gave them a whole new look. I first used white fabric paint to brighten up the base look of the sandals, then added this fun, metallic, aztec print trim to finish them off. This is a great DIY idea you can do to any of your strappy summer sandals to give them a whole new look.
Materials and tools for your DIY sandals:
- An old pair of sandals
- Fabric paint
- Trim
- Glue gun
- Paint brush
- Scissors
DIY Sandals Makeover
Step 1: To give my DIY sandals a fresh new look, I first painted over the old fabric to create a plain base. I used 2 coats of white fabric paint.
Step 2: Once my sandals were painted, I let them dry for about an hour or 2.
Step 3: When the fabric straps are fully dry, apply glue with a glue gun to each of the straps.
Step 4: Then firmly press on the trim on to the straps and snipped off any excess.
Step 5: Once the glue has set, you’re ready to show off your new DIY summer sandals.
