I’ve been wanting to do a condo tour of our downtown apartment for a very long time. We’ve been here for 5 years, but procrastination always got the best of me.
Since we’ll be upgrading and moving to a new home less than a month, I thought it was now or never – so here it is! A condo tour of our downtown apartment and a bit of a farewell rolled all into one!
A Tour of Our Downtown Condo
This downtown condo was my first home purchase. I love this place for many reasons. It’s in an amazing location with a beautiful view, and a lots of beautiful afternoon sun. And it’s the first place I really took the time to decorate to my liking.
Before we were always renting and moving every year or so, so I never put in the effort to make it feel like my own home. But this is the first place that truly felt like home to me.
We have some Ikea furniture in here, but a lot of the pieces we picked up here or there, and have some little story to them. Which I love because it gives them more personality to them.
The Living Room
I like to rearrange our living room every few months. This is our current configuration, and though it’s probably not my favourite, I didn’t feel like rearranging it just for our condo tour and with less than month to go in here.
It’s a small space and couldn’t fit a full size couch, but so we had this custom loveseat made which I love, and my husband hates. But he loves me so he puts up with it.
Above the couch we have an oil painting that’s been passed down from his grandparents. It’s a beautiful view the Grand Canal in Venice from Ponte Degli Scalzi. A few years ago, we actually had the opportunity to visit Venice and stand in that exact spot. Though the view has changed a little with some new buildings, it was beautiful to see this painting in real life and brought even more meaning to this painting for us.
At other times we have had a gallery wall above the sofa, as you might had seen on my DIY gallery wall post here. Like I said, we do love to change things up every couple seasons for a little variety.
Across from the couch we have a TV and a little plant area in the corner near the window. I have a few plant babies that sit on the sill along with a my DIY macrame plant hanger with a string of pearls there. I also have a bird feeder that attaches to the glass of our deck. And love watching the little birds com to feed during the day.
Work Area / Dining Area
This small area between the living room and the kitchen used to be more of a dining area. But with COVID it’s become my working/office area.
I use our small dining table as a desk on most days. And behind me I have plant wall with a collection of some more plants. Right now my plant collection isn’t the best. It was a rough winter, along with a run in with over fertilizing, so there were a number of casualties this past year.
Across from the table, this I’ve set up a full length mirror and chair. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see sometimes I’ll shoot photos here or take some selfies. but if anything it’s just an area to sit and relax a little.
The Bedroom
Overall we’ve kept the bedroom is pretty simple. Our bed is from Ikea, so nothing fancy. However I do love the look of this clean wood frame style that gives the bed a cottage vibe.
It’s also very practical bed too, with large storage drawers underneath it! This is golden when it comes to keeping organized in a small space like this!
My favourite area in the bedroom is my vanity in the corner. This dresser was one of the first pieces of furniture I bought when I moved out to Toronto. It’s been with me through quite a number of moves and I still love very much to this day.
On the dresser, I’ve used a cake stand to put my perfume collection on display along with some of my favourite lipsticks. And on the right I keep a collection of my most worn jewelry pieces and favourite little things.
The mirror for my vanity was one I hunted for long and hard. It’s probably my favourite piece of furniture in the whole place and it took me maybe 6 months to find. I just love the frame so much. I love the ornate wood fram with the paint worn off for a bit of character.
The Gym / Den
This is our den, that used to be my office, but since COVID, my husband has converted into a gym.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t thrilled with giving up my office, but I have to say that he did a great job converting it into a mini gym. And it’s a useful and functional gym area that’s great for doing home workouts.
The Kitchen
This is our kitchen and we haven’t done much here at all with it. It pretty much looks just like all the other kitchens in the building and we’re okay we that!
However in our new place we’ll be completely redoing the kitchen, which I’m super excited for!
The View
The view is one of the things I loved most about my downtown condo. We face west, which is away the city view and gives us all the beautiful sunsets without having to look into other buildings. The view is probably one of the things I’m going to miss most when we move.
We also had a large gorgeous deck where we have flowers and a little mini garden. But since we’re moving this year we didn’t do it up at all. So unfortunately I don’t have any good photos of it.
Our Upcoming Move
Well the countdown to the move now on! In just 3 weeks we’ll be leaving our downtown apartment and moving into a townhouse!
With COVID our apartment started to feel just a little too small as we were spending so much time there. The new townhouse will allow us to have more space and will be a good next step for us!
Hope you enjoyed the condo tour of our home and be on the lookout for some more home posts coming soon!

May 29, 2021This is such a cut little space and you decorated it well! 🙂 You do have lovely sunset views as well! Looking forward to seeing your new place – exciting that you are moving, I hope you’re able to get your office back when you do! I worked from home one day a week before covid so we added an office to our house when building and it’s come in so helpful with working from home so much now, haha!
Hope you are having a great weekend 🙂

May 26, 2021Such a bittersweet moment, right? Leaving a place behind you have called home for 5 years isn’t a walk in the park. With all of the beautiful memories you have made there, it just makes walking away that much harder. But there is certainly joy in change and definitely with more space. Congratulations on your new townhome and I can’t wait to see how you decorate your new place.
