5 Fall Fashion Staples to Add to Your Closet Right Now

It’s mid-August, and I know there are still a few good weeks of summer still left. But if you’ve been shopping, you’ll be quick to see that it’s already full-blown fall/winter in the fashion world!  

It’s a little bitter sweet to lay my summer clothes to rest for another year, but I can’t wait to start updating my wardrobe with for the fall season.  Here are my picks for some timeless fall fashion pieces to add to your wardrobe.

Fall Fashion Staple #1 – the Leather Pencil Skirt

Forget your leather mini for this season, the longer hemline of the pencil skirt is far more chic and wearable for this season.

The pencil skirt is a classic piece, and the leather just makes this tradition piece look a bit more edgy and update.

I love how it’s styled above it with brown boots and a denim button-up, making it oh-so-wearable for perfect for an every day fall outfit!

Here’s one of my favourite faux leather pencil skirts (from Evernew). It’s the perfect fall staple that’s an appropriate length for the office while the faux leather material gives it an updated chic vibe.  

2. The Moto Jacket

The moto jacket has been a closet staple for a few seasons, and the trend is still going strong!  It’s a great layering piece to go with sweaters and dresses and add an instant cool factor to any outfit.

But instead of the basic black, opt for some colour! Richer tones like red wine or burnt orange are great fall because they create a rich sense of warmth and depth, but so are neutral and creme tones that bring a bit of lightness to season.

Either way, a fun coloured moto jacket a perfect transition piece to the cooler weather.

The sweater dress looks all chic and sophisticated, but when we’re wearing it, it’s all about comfort!

A long sleeve dress is a perfect day to night essential for fall. Dress it up, dress it down – the sweater dress is a closet staple!

This really is the coat that goes with everything! Combined with a classic cut, the 2 toned look allows you to wear this coat with both light and dark colors, and almost everything else too!

Everyone needs a little prep in their wardrobe. This cute jacket tops off any outfit to make refreshed polish look.

This is probably one of my favourite blazers that are great for dressing up any outfit. I’ve worn it with everything from jeans and a tee to just throwing over a summer dress.
