As much as I love the hustle and bustle of Christmas, the holiday season is admittedly one of the most hectic times of year. The pressure is on, whether it’s braving the crowds at the mall to shop for the perfect gift, or holiday parties and family commitments eating up every spare moment of your time. Personally, the stresses of the holiday season just make me want to get away from it all.
But with so much going on, it’s hard to actually leave at this time of year. That’s why a staycation during this busy Christmas season is the perfect little escape. There’s no hassle of a flights and packing, just a couple days of quiet to get away from the madness to unwind and recharge.
The Gingerbread Package
This holiday season, the Intercontinental Toronto Centre has a holiday package that’s perfect for a seasonal staycation! The Gingerbread Package puts you in the holiday mood without having to worry about any of the holiday preparations. It includes an overnight stay in a deluxe room along with gingerbread house to decorate, hot chocolate, and a breakfast buffet at the Azure Restaurant. What makes the Gingerbread Package extra amazing is that it’s also for a great cause, so you can feel good that you’re getting to relax while also giving back during the holidays. The proceeds from the gingerbread house go to Habitat for Humanity Toronto, which helps provide housing for local families in need.
And if you happen to be reading this post off of the holiday season, the Intercontinental Toronto Centre also has other great staycation packages like their romance package for a intimate getaway, a shopping package for fashionistas, or even event packages for sports fans!
My Experience at the Intercontinental Toronto Centre
My staycation at the Intercontinental Toronto Centre came at a much needed time. With the year winding to a close, it was the perfect little getaway amid the holiday madness to just sleep in, relax, and unwind.
Our room was beautiful and modern with a fantastic view of downtown Toronto with the CN tower right in front of us! And being conveniently located steps away from Union station, the hotel was the perfect location that’s easily accessible to all the shopping and sights of downtown Toronto.
A bonus perk of the Intercontinental Toronto Centre is that it’s a pet friendly hotel! So me and the hubby weren’t the only one getting enjoy the staycation! When we arrived, they were ready for my pup with a plush dog bed, along with water and food bowls to make her feel right at home.
I also have to say that their hotel staff was amazing, from being warmly greeted at front desk, to the friendly housekeeping staff, and great team at the spa, their really made me feel welcomed and at home during my stay there.
Shortly after we settle into our room, our gingerbread house was delivered to along with hot chocolate and the fun began! Me and my hubby spend the next hour tapping in to our inner child, decorating the gingerbread house, snacking on the candies, and enjoying our hot chocolate over some good laughs.
The Intercontinental Toronto Centre also has a lovely spa, so we opted to get a couples massage before dinner to help melt away our stresses further. After our relaxing massages, we indulged on meat and cheese plate, and enjoyed some pool and hot tub time before we retiring back to our room for the evening.
Part of the Gingerbread Package was the delicious breakfast buffet at the Azure Restaurant. Since sleeping has become such a luxury for me, it was great that their breakfast buffet runs until 11:30am. It was complete with an omelette station, baked pastries, and an assortment of fresh fruits along with all the classic breakfast favourites like bacon and eggs. It was the perfect way to start off the day and bring our staycation to a close.
Our weekend staycation over the busy holiday season was the perfect way to reset and refocus and I’d highly recommend it. It was the perfect little getaway, I got to unwind without leaving any of my responsibilities hanging, and when Monday rolled around again, I was ready to hit the ground running.
Thank you to Intercontinental Toronto Centre for hosting me!
