From exfoliation to active ingredients, my 7 skincare tips on how to get glowing skin that looks lit from within.
Glowing skin is always in! And no matter what makeup you’re using, it all starts with good skincare.
Though it might feel like it sometimes, how to get glowing skin isn’t a secret formula! It’s is a combination of product, practice, and patience.
So today I’m sharing my personal skincare tips to achieve healthy, radiant, and clear skin. And guess what, it’s easier than you think!
7 Tips for How to Get Glowing Skin
1. Drink up, and we’re talking about water here!
If you’re dehydrated, it’s hard for your skin to have glowing skin naturally.
Your skin is 64 percent water, so without adequate water intake, skin can appear duller and more lacklustre with more prominent wrinkles and pores.
Drinking at least 8 glasses a day will help rid the body and skin of toxins. Allowing your skin to repair itself and and look its best.
2. Get your beauty sleep
They call it beauty sleep for a reason! The connection between ample, good-quality sleep and healthy skin is undeniable. Getting enough sleep is one of the easiest and most important glowing skin tips.
Not only is getting a good night’s rest critical for your general overall health and well-being. But it also turns out there’s some scientific truth to the notion of beauty sleep.
Our skin rests and repairs itself while we sleep. It removes toxins, repairs cell and DNA damage caused by the environment, replaces aging cells, and creates new ones. That’s why after good-quality sleep, skin looks fresher, younger, and more radiant. So make sure you get your Zzzz’s in!
3. Exfoliate regularly
Exfoliating should be part of your glowing skin routine. It is the quickest and easiest way to brighten your skin. A buildup of dead skin cells can make even the glowiest skin look dull and sad.
Regular and gentle exfoliation with a scrub or acid-based peel pads can immediately brighten your skin by sloughing dead skin cells away.
Exfoliation also helps your skincare products absorb into the skin better, which means an extra boost of nutrients, hydration and glow.
One of my favourites is the This Works Morning Expert Multi-Acid Pads. They’s a super easy way to get my daily exfoliation with their easy to use pads. They contain Multi Fruit Acids to help remove dead skin cells, Azelaic Acid to reduces appearance of blemishes, and Vitamin B3 tht helps to brightens skin.
I also love a good mechanical exfoliation which I do a couple times a week with the Alya Skin Pomegranate Facial Exfoliator. It’s infused with pomegranate seed powder to deeply exfoliate and extract impurities, tightening pores and revealing a soft, healthier-looking complexion.
4. Vitamin C for skin
Another glowing skin routine essential is Vitamin C. There is no powerhouse skincare ingredient better than vitamin C. It helps brighten your skin, combat pigmentation, and contribute to overall better skin health
Vitamin C is the ultimate glowing skin serum. It is an antioxidant that works by interfering with pigment production and reducing inflammation, while protecting your skin against free radicals and environmental damage.
One of my favourites is the Dermalogica BioLumin-C Vitamin C Serum. It makes my skin is noticeably brighter and smoother, and overall more glowy.
5. Detoxify with a weekly mask
It’s hard to have glowing skin when your pores are clogged and filled with dirt. For glowing skin, doing a weekly detoxifying mask can improve your complexion, cleans your pores and give your skin the glow you’re looking for.
My go-to glowing skin mask is the Alya Skin Pink Clay Mask. It works to strengthen, detox and cleanse your skin. The Australian Kaolin clay removes toxins, pollutants and nasties from your skin, as well as stimulate regeneration of skin cells. Plus, it tightens your pores and gives you smooth skin with an incredible glow.
6. Hydrating mists
Facial mists aren’t just spray bottles filled with fancy water. A good hydrating mist contain skin-healthy ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and squalane which work to calm the skin, rehydrate, and provide instant glowing skin throughout the day.
My current fave is the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Mist. An ultra-fine, hydrating mist formulated with a juicy blend of watermelon, hyaluronic acid, and hibiscus to refresh skin and give it a great glow. I usually use it after I apply my makeup to help set it, as well as throughout the day whenever I need a skin pick-me-up
7. Facial massage
If you’re looking for glowing skin naturally, a two-minute face massage can help you look alive in the short term, as well as firm and contour over time.
I love to give myself a little facial massage as I apply my skincare products. Using my fingertips, I massage my skincare in a circular motion into my skin. The stimulation can help get the blood moving to wake up your whole complexion.
You can also use a tool like a jade roller of gua sha to enhance your facial massage routine as well!

January 16, 2021These are good tips! Thanks for sharing!
I can’t get as much sleep as I’d like with the little kids, haha! But I do try to drink lots of water and make sure I keep hydrated – I have a nice hydrating face mist too that works well even in summer when it’s too hot and humid for creams!
Hope that you are having a nice weekend! It’s a bit of a wet one here.
