Little things are happening around us every day. In fact, every moment, we are encountering little things. Yesterday, when I was walking my dog down in the neighbourhood, a woman smiled at me as she passed by. I smiled back and thought to myself, “That was such a small thing, but it made me happy to be acknowledged by a stranger.”
Often we dismiss the small stuff because we are caught up in the bigger picture. We’re working towards big goals that are far off and forget to stop and “smell the roses” along the way. Wonderful things are all around us if we could but notice them. It all depends on our outlook and attitude.
6 Little Things That Can Make a Difference In Your Life
1. Live in the moment
The secret of a life well-lived lies in celebrating each and every moment. As they say, time is more valuable than money. There will be always a chance to make more money, but there’s no turning back time once it’s gone.
2. Treasure your loved ones
Life’s all about relationships. Draw your strength from your family, friends and loved ones. Make sure to spend quality time with them and tell them how much you love them.
3. Celebrate quality
In a world where we’re bombarded with more is better, try not to be obsessed with quantity. Instead try to concentrate on quality. Don’t rush to each and every sale in the town. The so-called non-essentials of life actually add more sparkle to the harshness of daily life. So, indulge in that perfumed candle, soft linens and fresh flowers.
4. Add more to yourself
Learn something new. There’s no better way to celebrate life than by adding more to yourself. Be in sync with what’s happening in the world. Learn a new language, a musical instrument, baking, pottery and the like. Add more to your knowledge.
5. Express gratitude
We often take for granted all that life offers us, without being grateful. In this fast forward modern life when people don’t have time for themselves – even their slightest of concern means a lot. If somebody is helpful and kind to us in thought or action, we should to express gratitude or return our thankful feelings.
6. Embrace solitude
This is hard lesson to learn when we think we always need to be surrounded by friends to be happy. Learn to be happy in your own company. Solitude is to be celebrated. Don’t be desperate to be with people 24/7. Spending quality time with yourself will give you a perspective.

Solitude is such a special time – I get so recharged after having “me” time.
Great list – I think intrinsically we know all these but always good to have a reminder!
