If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m all about my lashes. I’ve been getting lash extensions for 6 years now and I’m obsessed.
Keeping my lashes in tip top condition is of utmost importance. They need to be strong to hold my extensions and healthy so they won’t shed as quickly. And to maintain them I have a daily lash routine that I do along with my skincare routine.
But even if you don’t have eyelash extensions, you should be taking time to care for your lashes. Mascara, skincare products, rubbing, excessive heat or cold can be damaging to your natural lashes too.
For this post, I’ve teamed up with Borboleta to share my daily lash care routine to keep your lashes clean and healthy. It’s really so simple to do and something that’s so important for your lash health too.
The eye area is sensitive and delicate, yet it’s where we apply the most makeup. So thoroughly and gently cleaning this area well is so important for lashes and skin in that area.

My Daily Lash Care Routine
I like to make my daily lash care routine the first step of my night time skincare routine. It only takes less than 5 minutes, and it really helps my lashes look their best as well as keep them healthy and clean.
Step 1: Eye Makeup Removal
If you have eyelash extensions it’s important to use the right makeup remover to keep your lashes in the best condition.
Borboleta’s Breakdown Oil-Free Makeup Remover is gentle, yet powerful, and a totally lash-safe formula. It dissolves long-wearing eye makeup without rubbing, tugging, or damage to your lashes.
Unlike other removers, there’s no greasy residue. And it’s formulated with fatty acids to dissolve makeup and prevent moisture loss, so it’s not over-drying your skin.
Clean Swoop Makeup Removing and Cleansing Brush
When it comes to removing eye makeup and cleaning my lashes I use the Clean Swoop Brush. This brush has been such a game changer for me!
I use the Clean Swoop Brush to both remove makeup and thoroughly clean my lashes. It’s so gentle for lifting and removing makeup off my skin, and the ultra fine bristles get between all the roots of my lashes to keep them healthy and clean.
To remove my eye makeup, I’ll saturate the Clean Swoop brush with Breakdown and gently work the brush over my lids and under my eyes to remove my eye makeup.
The Swoop Brush has a unique concave shape that hugs the shape of the eye perfectly to reach all the corners and gently brush and clean away any makeup.
Then I’ll rinse the Swoop Brush with water and go over the area one more time.
Step 2: Lash Shampoo and Cleanse
Once I’ve removed my eye makeup from the skin around my eyes, the next step is to shampoo my lashes.
If you’ve never done this before, I know it might sound a little ridiculous to do. But it will make such a difference to how your lashes will look and feel, especially if you have eyelash extensions.
Borboleta has 2 lash cleansers: the Lash Bath Foam Cleanser and the Lash Bath Gel Cleanser. Both are super effective, it just comes down to a preference of texture. I personally like the Lash Bath Gel Cleanser when I’ve been wearing more eye makeup, and Lash Bath Foam Cleanser on lighter makeup days.
Both formulas are designed to keep lids and lashes clean, healthy and nourished. They contain moisture-binding hyaluronic acid and amino acids to replenish and hydrate for more youthful looking skin while strengthening and conditioning natural lashes.
I love how good my lashes look after I shampoo them. They look so fluffy and fresh and separate beautifully so they look naturally fuller. This formula is wonderful too, it doesn’t leave any residue, and leaves the skin around your eyes soft as well!
To cleanse my lashes, I’ll saturate my Clean Swoop brush in my Lash Bath Cleanser, then gently brush my lashes in a downward motion.
To cleanse the roots, I’ll gently work the brush into the base of my lashes to remove any stubborn grime. Then I’ll use Borboleta’s Clean Swoop Brush to rinse my lids and lashes with water, then pat dry.
Step 3: Brush and fluff lashes
The next step is to brush your lashes. And Borboleta has the best lash wand!
The Fluff Up Reusable Lash Wand has a unique shape so that it reaches all those corner lashes to lift and separate each one.
Plus, it’s makeup bag and travel friendly with a cap and its compact size.
Step 4: Eye Mask (bonus!)
Every few days I love to treat myself to an eye mask too. Borboleta’s Cooldown Calming Eye Mask instantly soothes and calms tired eyes. They’re the perfect end to your lash routine and help to soothe, depuffs and diminish the appearance of dark circles with a caffeine infused gel formula.
Borboleta Lash Care Review
I’m so happy to have discovered Borbleta’s lash care products for my lash care routine. Properly caring for your lashes extensions can make a big difference in how they look and even how they feel.
On a day to day basis, my lashes look fuller, fluffier and just more gorgeous. And I feel like they shed less too since I’ve been properly caring for them.
I’ll be honest, I’m not always the best at removing my eye makeup before bed, but doing my lash care routine helps to ensure I do that every night. And I have to say the skin around my eyes has never looked better. Looking naturally refreshed and less tired.
Even if you don’t have lash extensions, doing a proper cleanse of the eye area and your natural lashes is so important. Borboleta’s gentle and effective products help to keep both your skin and eyes healthy.
