Nail DIY: How to Create Heart Nail Designs

The month love is upon us! February is here and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.  This makes the perfect excuse to sport hearts all month long!

Sometimes nail art can be really overpowering with busy designs, colors and textures. For this Valentine’s day, I wanted to create a really simple, but pretty nail design that’s wearable for all occasions. I’ve decided to create a minimalist manicure featuring a little heart over the left side of each nail.

<3  Making heart nail designs may look difficult, but with this technique,  it really becomes quite easy!

Heart Nail Art Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to easily create hearts nail designs on your nails with a nail dotter or toothpick in a few quick steps. This is a great technique to use than can be applied to create many other nail designs.

Step 1:  Start off with your 2 coats of your base color and wait for it to dry.

Step 2:  In this step, you’re going to create the basic structure of the heart nail design by making 3 little dots in the shape of an inverted triangle. These 3 dots will be your reference point to the frame of the heart.

Step 3: Take your nail dotter and clean off any excess polish. Join the dots into a little ‘V’ shape. Now you’re starting to see your little heart start to form!

Step 4: Using your nail dotter or tooth pick, spread the polish at the top  of the ‘V’ shape to form a heart.

Step 5 : Let your heart nail design dry thoroughly, then finish off your new pretty manicure with a topcoat.
