I partnered with NEUTROGENA® to bring you this post

There’s one thing has always remained absolutely true about getting rid of acne: It’s not just about how you treat it, rather, it’s about how you prevent it. Like most people, I’ve turn to skincare to help with my acne problems. But even with the best products some times you can’t get past the effects of stress, hormones and good ol’ mother nature.  The quest for keeping my skin clear has lead me to try all sorts of skincare products and treatments like peels and facials, which are both time consuming and costly. That’s why I was thrilled to hear that NEUTROGENA® created an affordable light therapy treatment for acne that you could use from the comfort of your own home.

NEUTROGENA® ‘s Light Therapy Acne Mask uses targeted LED light therapy to treat acne and blemishes on your face. This unique device uses a non-abrasive method to treat acne that doesn’t aggravate the skin more. All you need to do is to wear it for 10 minutes daily to prevent the growth of acne bacteria on your skin. Pique your interest? Keep reading to see how this Light Therapy Acne Masks works…

How does light therapy work?

Light therapy isn’t anything new, it’s been used by dermatologists for decades, however it hasn’t been as affordable or accessible until now. With the new NEUTROGENA®  Light Therapy Acne Mask, instead of spending hundreds of dollars per treatment at the dermatologist office, you can do your own light therapy from home for less than $2 a day.  It uses the same technology – both red and blue light – to kill bacteria that causes acne, while also reducing current breakouts and allowing them to heal faster.

Besides the price difference, the NEUTROGENA®  Light Therapy Acne Mask also makes light therapy easier for us to incorporate into our daily routines. Why is everyday use important?  Because acne-causing bacteria replicates around the clock, and the more often you prevent its growth by hitting it with blue and red light, the less of a chance your skin has to react and breakout.

The idea is that you slip the plastic mask onto your freshly cleansed face once a day for 10 minutes, and mild to moderate breakouts will virtually be destroyed before they ever reach the surface. The brand has clinical proof that 80% of test subjects showed fewer breakouts in just one week of use, while 98% showed fewer breakouts at three months’ time.

My Thoughts on the NEUTROGENA®  Light Therapy Acne Mask

I’ve been using it for close to a month now and I have to say my skin has been looking pretty clear these days. My skin type is a combination with oilier areas and mildly acne prone – I usually have a blemish or two more often than not. During the first week of use, I felt like current blemishes I had healed faster than would have without the treatment. By the time I was 2-3 weeks in, my overall skin tone was better with reduced redness, along with fewer breakouts. This past week I haven’t had a single breakout. I found the NEUTROGENA®  Light Therapy Acne mask to be a very effective treatment for me and love how this unique device fights acne while being gentle to the skin.

I think it’s so great that NEUTROGENA®  has made light therapy more accessible and easy to use.  The commitment of 10 minutes per day is definitely worth it and easier than you think. While you’re using the mask, you can still read a book, watch tv or surf on your laptop, and before you know it the 10 minutes it up, and it automatically turns off for you.

The cost of the NEUTROGENA®  Light Therapy Acne Mask is very reasonable as well. When you purchase the mask it comes with 1 light mask and 30 treatment sessions. After your 30 session, you’ll do need to purchase a new activator.  The mask with the activator retails for $50 CAD/$35 USD. The activator alone is 22 CAD/$15 USD.  You’ll be able to find the Light Therapy Acne Mask in stores nationwide starting September 2017!

I wonder if light therapy has some negative consequences? It seems like really great thing for skin!

It doesn’t seem like it has any. I like it because it’s more gentle than a lot of topical acne products!

I’m curious if this only works to prevent breakouts or would help if you already have them… I have a teen with a big breakout and have considered buying this….

I found that it was helpful with healing my current breakouts faster as well. It definitely helps prevent them though!

I really want to give this a try! I’ve been dealing with break outs and my forehead is extremely bumpy 🙁 I used to use benzoyl peroxide as an effective method to deal with my acne, but I developed an allergic reaction to it. I’ll probably purchase this light therapy mask and hopefully it works!!

You definitely should! I hated all those topical acne products, they never worked for me and left the rest of my skin in worse condition. I love how this is a more gentle approach!
