I’ve been working from home through all through COVID, and last week I went into the office for the first time!
But after wearing sweats and leggings for the last 18 months, while I was putting together my office outfit that morning I felt like I had to learn how to dress for work all over again!
The dress code at my office is business casual. So I generally I try to put together office outfits that’s professional and chic, as well as comfortable – because sitting in tight high waisted pants through a long meetings is not fun thing.
It seems like many of you have recently head back to the office as well. So I thought I would round up some of my favourite fall office outfits for women as a little workwear fashion inspiration for you! (Feel free to pin and follow me on Pinterest!) As well as a reminder for me on those days I wake up and can’t seem to put an outfit together.
Business Casual Outfit Ideas for Women

Work Outfits with Black Pants
When in doubt, you can never go work with a work outfit with black pants.
You can throw on almost anything on top and you can look decently pulled together without trying too hard at all.
My go-to pairings for black pants outfits are knit tops, turtlenecks, and button downs.
Coloured Workwear Trousers and Pants
Black is great, but sometimes you just need a little variety. Neutral tones like tan, brown, cream and white are great options for pants and trousers for the office.
I’ve been loving the paper bag style workwear trousers for awhile. They’re so comfy with extra room in the hips and legs. Plus they work well on petite frames like mine.
I’ve also been loving the wide leg dress pants as well. The have a great elevated vibe to them with as well while being super comfy to wear.
Pencil Skirt Work Outfits
The pencil skirt has long been an office outfit wardrobe staple. It’s polished and feminine and a great alternative to pants.
A classic black pencil skirt is a great staple to have. I also love pencil skirts in prints, as well as those little details that make them not so basic.
Blazer Outfits
When it comes to workwear jackets, the blazer rules supreme.
My favourite has been the camel coloured blazer recently. It brings a bit of colour and warmth to any outfit, and looks a little less formal than a black one.
Checkered print blazers have also been so popular this season. I’m currently shopping for one of those right now!
Office Dresses for Work
Office dresses are an easy one and done outfit. Not to mention typically more comfortable than pants!
This little black dress and little white dress are the basis of so many of my winter office outfits. I love how I’m able to layer with them and accessorize them to easily change up the look. This vest dress is another one of my favourites as well!
Office Outfits with Jeans
Jeans can make a great office outfit option if you work in a more casual environment. (And check out this post for the best places to shop for jeans online!)
A black skinny jean and darker coloured denim are more polished options. But a well paired light denim will look great as well. I typically try to avoid excessive distressing, but really comes down to how casual your office dress code is.
Additionally, when it comes to office outfit with jeans, wearing the right shoes make all the difference. Something polished and classic always elevates denim.
Also tops like turtlenecks, button downs and blazers help to dress up the look and make it not so casual.
Day to Night Workwear Outfits
Sometimes you need outfits that can take you from the office to happy hour, because who has time to go home and change?
Typically for these outfits, I’ll swap out accessories like my work bag for a cute cross body or clutch, put on a pair of pumps, and change up my hair style.
All also make sure my outfit is just a little more than basic on those days with little details, like prints, embellishments or accents.
Work Outfits with Sneakers
I feel like business casual dresses has changed over the past year. And where I probably wouldn’t wear sneakers to the office in the past, a good clean white pair seem quite fitting to dress down a suit or pair with pants these days.
Casual Office Outfits
And here are some office outfit ideas that are great for casual Fridays, or if you just work in a more relaxed work environment.
Faux leather has been such a big trend for fall, and when properly worn it can be be part of a great for a casual office outfit. Another trend I’m loving is the colour brown, which really ands some warmth to office outfits.
