If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll notice lately I’ve been really into workwear style. In the spectrum of fashion, in the past I had always thought of workwear to be rather basic and boring. Since I had spent most of my career working for tech startups and more liberal work environments, I had naturally gravitated to more a freer casual style. But after starting a more corporate role this year, I discovered that workwear has really come a long way since the days of plain black pencil skirts, blazers, and neat blouses.
This is one of my latest workwear looks. I’ve paired a striped turtle neck and black culottes with a lightweight wool coat. I’ve found that culottes make great office pants, not only do they have great clean shape, but they’re remarkably comfortable as well with their loose fit. This particular pair has tailored details like a crease down the front which gives it a polished feel, while the bow-tie waist adds a bit of fun to them. I’ve paired it with a striped turtle neck, adding a bit of character with a print while still being a classic pattern. This wool coat has been a staple in my closet for many years, and I love the simplicity of its clean lines with the sweater collar accent. I’ve finished this look off with a pair of classic nude patent pumps, and a simple crossbody purse.

December 5, 2018Love this outfit. Funny you say you’ve been wearing more workwear with a more corporate role. I find I actually dress nicer and more “workwear” now that I work from home than when I worked in a super corporate setting! Guess I found the right “work” for me hey? 🙂 Cheers!
