Velvet is one of the trendiest fabrics of this Fall and Winter. It’s one of the season’s hottest looks and you can spot it everywhere from booties and bags to dresses and more. This exquisite fabric has always been known as a royal luxury and chic material, but this season the luxe fabric has reached high fashion status. Everyone is wearing it from celebrities on the red carpet to models on the runway.
The thing about velvet is it’s one of those fabric that you can either go awfully wrong or magically right. Velvet can make you look very elegant, but at the same time a very complicated material. One of my favorite ways of wearing velvet is mixing it with denim or leather, it’s an easy way to tone down the drama and make it more wearable. If you’re still not sure about the velvet trend, you can always stick to easy add on pieces like a velvet accessory of a purse or shoes.
I finally took the plunge and added this crushed red velvet dress to my wardrobe. I’ve been shopping for velvet dresses for awhile so this is the first velvet piece I’ve added to my wardrobe in a long time. And I have no regrets, it’s so soft and cosy and perfect for those chilly fall nights while still looking fabulously glam.
For this look, I’ve paired my new velvet dress with my favorite leather jacket from Mackage and some peep-toe booties from Nine West. Even though the cut of the dress is basic, it’s anything but with the crush velvet texture; it just brings so much character to the dress. I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit simple to highlight keep the dress as my main focus so both my jacket and shoes are pretty minimalist. For my accessories, added a dainty necklace and a few simple stacking rings for just a little shine.
Outfit Details:
Dress: Crush red velvet dress c/o Romwe

October 17, 2017That is a beautiful dress and it looks great on you! I actually just wore a crushed velvet dress a couple weeks ago. The background was black, and it had gold and ivory flowers and leaves–seemed ideal for a fall wedding!
