Silk is a classic fabric that has made a huge comeback. Silk outfits of all kinds – slip dresses, silk shirts, silk skirts and more, they’re everywhere from street style to runway.
I’m in love with the silk trend and how it’s now become a casual luxe essential! The number of silk garments that are part of my wardrobe have been continually growing over the past year. So today I’m sharing my most functional silk pieces and how I like to wear them in everyday outfits.
5 ways to wear silk in an outfit
Silk Slip Dress Outfit
This is one of my favourite silk outfit ideas! I wanted a silk slip dress for so long, but it always seemed a bit pricey for an item I wasn’t sure I was going to wear a whole lot.
Well I recently got this one from MOTF which is a premium line to SHEIN, and not only was it budget friendly for real silk, I’ve been wearing it non-stop!
This silk dress is probably one of the most versatile dresses I own. I love how it looks great as a slinky date night dress or dressed down with a tee and sneakers, like I have here in the casual silk dress outfit above.
If you had to only buy one silk item, it would have to be a toss up between a silk slip dress and silk shirt!
Silk Shirt Outfit

You really can’t go wrong with a silk shirt outfit. Pair it with jeans for a casual look, or dress it up with a chic pair of pants.
I’ve paired my silk shirt with a faux leather skirt which gives a nice contrast in textures to this other wise simple black and white combo.
Silk Skirt Outfit

I actually have a few silk skirts, my favourite being this white one. But this blue one here is a recent addition to my collection.
Like silk dresses, silk skirts are super versatile as well. You can pair them with sneakers, sandals, and boots to change up the feel your silk skirt outfit.
Since silk is so comfortable to wear, one of my favourite fall day to day looks is a silk skirt with a sweater. It’s feels cozy and luxe all at once. Yet it’s one of the most simple silk outfit ideas, and one I love so much!
Silk Cami Outfit
white wide leg cropped pants c/o Ann Taylor (similar here)
This draped silk cami style has been popular for awhile, but I stayed way from it because I wasn’t sure if it would be flattering. Well I have to say I wish I tried it sooner, because I’m totally in love with it now!
It’s been a pretty warm fall here, so I’ve been able to just wear it alone. But I know as it cools down, this will be a great layering piece to wear under cardigans.
I’m already planning to get the it in all the colours!
Silk Top & Jeans
mom jeans c/o SHEIN
This turtleneck silk top another piece that’s super versatile as well. I love how the silk material gives this top an elevated look, but it’s so easy to dress down as well!
I’ve made this a casual silk top outfit by dressing it down with a pair of jeans. But I’ve also worn this silk top with a dressier skirt and for a more formal occasion as well and it looks beautiful too!
Which silk outfit idea is your favourite out of this bunch?

October 15, 2021You have so many nice silk pieces in your wardrobe! I only have a couple – it’s a tricky material to wear around the kids, haha! I love the look of that silk cami so much though 🙂
Hope you are having a great weekend 🙂 We finally have a sunny day after some rainy ones so will make the most of it!
