Big thanks to Beauty Bridge for sponsoring this post!Â
Having flawless skin doesn’t always come naturally, especially in the summer. We’re fighting against sun, sweat, and smog, which is no easy beauty battle. With the heat causing sweat glands to kick up the oil production, the wrong foundation can wreak havoc on your pores, look cake-y and leave you a hot melted mess, a look that isn’t good on anyone.
Every time summer rolls around, I start my search for the perfect summer foundation. One that will keep my skin looking fresh and natural while concealing minor flaws and evening skin tone. Foundation is a makeup must for me, so I try to beat the heat and lighten up that beauty routine with a foundation that’s lightweight, heat-proof, and long-lasting formula.
Lately I’ve been trying AGEID Serum Foundation by Babor courtesy of  Beauty Bridge. It’s is an ultra-light, serum-like foundation that with a 4-fold anti-aging effect that an creates a natural look. Keep reading to see my thoughts on this foundation.
Babor AGEID Serum Foundation Review
If you like your foundation extremely light, subtle, and flawless you should indulge in a bottle of this. Babor’s AGEID Serum Foundation is a lightweight foundation with an instant lifting effect for a youthful summer glow with anti-aging properties like protection against free radicals.
This foundation has a unique formula that’s neither oily, sticky, or uncomfortable to wear. It has a light-as-a-feather serum consistency that feels completely weightless. I often feel like I’m wearing a mask with most foundations, but this gives my skin plenty of breathing room with very light coverage that’s also very buildable, so I can see it carrying me over into fall and winter as well.
I can get good continuous wear out of it for about 6 hours without having to blot or reapply. The finish is dewy and evens out skin tone creating a brilliant canvas for makeup.  To me, it feels like a cross between a primer, foundation, and a tinted moisturizer all in one. The finish is a flawless look, that allows me conceal minor imperfecÂtions, but still allows my natural skin texture to show to through. It looks so natural and pretty on and gives my skin a fresh, look that’s perfect for summer.
A bonus feature of the Babor’s AGEID line is the effective anti-aging active ingredients. It’s formulated to protect the skin’s cells and has a detoxifying effect against free radical damage. Apart form the instant optical lifting effect that you can see, it contains ingredients to help improve your skin over time and use.
Overall this is one of the favorite foundations I have tried to date. It’s unlike a traditional foundation, that covers and conceals your skin. It’s serum texture is really quite revolutionary and I love how it’s buildable so I can adjust the coverage to my needs. The anti-aging skin care aspect also appeals to me, because I want my products not to just hide my imperfections, but to help my skin improve as well.
Brush vs Sponge vs Fingers
Along with having a the right foundation for your skin. Applying it correctly can make a big difference to the finish, look, and wearability of the your foundation. The difference between brushes, sponges, and using your fingers is all about what you need the product to do. Using a sponge gives an extremely blended, flawless finish. While brushes allows for really concentrated placement and fingers are great for products that need to be warmed up a bit to blend.
I personally like to use a combination of sponges and brushes. I usually use sponges for general overall coverage and use brushes around the eyes, nose and mouth, to focus on areas that little a little more attention and care. Along with my new foundation I’ve also been trying out the Beautybender and Japonesque Must-Have Complexion Brush Duo courtesy of Beauty Bridge.
Beautyblender Review
The Beautyblender is a cult beauty favorite for a reason. You can feel difference between the Beautyblender and other sponges as you first pick it up: it’s remarkably lightweight and soft. Â It has a very fine spongey texture that the key to its success when it comes to applying makeup.
I find the Beautyblender to be so much better than regular makeup sponges. It provides coverage that looks more natural and uniform than regular sponges. There is a specific technique when it comes to using the Beautyblender. First, it’s recommended to slightly dampen it before use, and apply your foundation by quickly “bouncing” the sponge across your skin. Since the sponge is so soft and material so smooth, there’s little resistance when you bounce on your makeup onto your skin and the result is a more natural-looking finish.
Now that I’ve tried the Beautyblender, I don’t think I’d ever go back to a regular sponge. The raindrop shape also allows it get into all the little corners around your eyes and nose which is great. It makes my foundation easier to apply, cutting down my application time and I also find that I use less product to get the same amount of coverage.
Japonesque Must-Have Complexion Brush Duo
Japonesque has been known to make quality brushes, so it’s no surprise that Complexion Brush Duo is a versatile set and great for applying foundations and powders. This brush set is beautifully designed with tri-toned, professional grade synthetic brush fibers.  It comes with 2 brushes, Multitasker Brush, for applying, building or buffing liquids, powders or creams and the Go To Brush, for blurring and buffing out concealers, powders and creams.
I actually prefer synthetic brushes to natural brushes, especially when it comes to applying foundation and concealers. I find they don’t hold on and steal all your makeup and gives a nice smooth application. Both these Japonesque brushes do a great job depositing just the right amount of product and do a good job with blending to create flawless finish. They’re more affordable than the higher-end, brand-name brushes, but still have comparable quality to the more expensive ones.
