Low Key Summer Basics That are Also Trendy!

Today I’m sharing my summer wardrobe basics are low key, but also trendy. These are my 5 go-to dressing staples for creating warm weather outfits.

Many of the pieces in these looks are basics that I’ve had for awhile. But when mixed up with some of my newer pieces, they still look on trend without much effort at all.

1. White Button Down Shirt

A classic button down shirt is really an all season wardrobe staple, but I love it especially in the summer.

This striped white button down shirt has to be my most worn top of this season! It’s taken me almost everywhere from formal days at the office to casual outfits for the weekend!

A button down shirt is such a great basic because there are so many ways to wear it. It looks great stand alone top – both tucked in or tied up.

It also makes a layering piece over dresses or cropped tops. And it even makes a nice beach coverup, if you have a slightly longer one!

2. Skorts

Skorts are another great summer basic that’s having a trendy moment. With athleisure being such a big trend over the past year, it’s only natural skorts have made a comeback along with it.

Practical and cute, with skorts you get all the benefits of wearing a skirt without the fuss or worry about flashing anyone.

If you’re looking for a wardrobe staple opt for a neutral or black skorts. But there have also been so many cute colourful ones out this season too!

3. White Denim Jacket

Denim jackets are always in style, but for summer a white jean jacket is a great option.

It’s perfect for dressing down an outfit, but also looks more polished than your classic jean jacket.

4. A floral dress

Is it even summer if you don’t have a staple floral dress in your wardrobe?

This red and white mini floral dress I’ve had for 2 years now, but it’s remains one of my favourites and it’s also still available RN on sale for $15!

5. White pants

White pants are must for summer! They look polished, yet still effortless and go with practically everything.

This wide leg cropped pair of culottes are actually from a couple years ago, but they still sell them at Ann Taylor right now! They’ve been a such a great basic, I’m thinking of picking up another pair.

This cropped wide leg style make this pair of white pants so comfy to wear. And I love how I can dress them up or down depending on the occasion.
