So… I got a new bag! It was a bit of a Christmas present to myself from myself, and I want to say it was a reward for working so hard last year, but honestly it was just an itch that needed to be scratched.
Most of the time, I only carry my basics – phone, keys and cards – in a small bag. But I felt like there was a gap in my collection for a slightly bigger every day bag that could also carry a few more things, like a my mask and some extra makeup for touchups.
Saint Laurent Lou Lou Small Bag Review
I’ve had this bag for about a month now, so I thought it would be a good time to give my Saint Laurent Lou Lou small bag a review at this point.
The Saint Laurent Lou Lou small bag has quickly become my favourite bag. Of course I still love my vintage Chanel, but the Saint Laurent Lou Lou Small Bag is both such a practical bag and a beautiful one too!
Since we’re back in lockdown, I’ve just been using it for every day things like running errands. It’s been great for this because it fits so much! I can throw in a full makeup bag, with mask, gloves, wallet and the bag doesn’t look overstuffed at all.
I also love the versatility of wearing it as both the shoulder bag and cross body. This is great when I need a hands free option or to change up the look of the bag from day to night.
The leather on Saint Laurent bags amazing and this one is no exception. It’s smooth and soft to touch, and doesn’t seem to scratch easily. I haven’t seen any signs of wear on it at all yet, and it’s holding up nicely so far!
The colour of this small loulou called dark beige. I wouldn’t say it’s all that dark at all though. It’s a great neutral without being so light that I’d to worry about colour transfer. Depending on what colours I wear it with it can look more neutral or a bit pinkish.
What’s In My Bag
Well a lot! One of the things I love most about the small Saint Laurent Loulou bag in is how much it can fit in it.
I use this as a day bag for running errands, so needed it to hold a bit than just the bare basics to get me through the day comfortably with everything I need.
In my small YSL Loulou, I managed to fit a full makeup touch up kit, along with all a number of essentials, and could probably fit a few more things too if needed!
Below you’ll find the items that I’d you’d typically find in my bag plus or minus a few lippies!
Phone + AirPods
I carry both my phone and AirPods around with my always. To keep them protected, I’ve been using Velvet Caviar cases for both of them. I’ve found their cases really durable and still stylish which I love!
That round silver thing you see in the pic below a bag hook! I hate putting my bag on the ground or having it squished on the seat with me, so this bag hook comes in super handy.
It’s ultra compact and about the size of a silver dollar. The outer border opens into a hook that attaches to any table. I love how it’s so tiny it won’t take up much real estate in your bag.
Mesh Makeup Bags
A love clear and mesh makeup bags. They make it so much easier to find your makeup. This one happens to be the perfect size to give my bag a little bit of shape when it’s not as full as a bonus.
Florence by Mills Cheek Me Later Cream Blush
Perfect for a touch of colour on the go. This Florence by Mills Cheek Me Later Blush in Glowing G is a compact versatile pinky nude cream tint I like to use on my cheek and lips.
Jane Iredale Pure Matte Mini
Having a little mini compact of translucent powder with a mirror is handy for getting rid of shine and for a quick makeup check.
Cela Essential Facial Mist
Facial sprays are life for me! This one from Cela is a great purse sized one. It contains antioxidant-rich vitamin E and snow algae to hydrate, calm, and refresh the the skin in an instant.
Givenchy Le Rouge Sheer Velvet Lipstick in Rouge Brique
Rouge Brique is current favourite dark winter red of the moment. I find it goes so well with the brown tones of the seasons!
Givenchy Rose Perfecto Lip Balm
A long time fave of mine. I apply this luxe lip balm before my lipstick to give them a hydrated base.
Maybelline Lifter Gloss Lip Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid
Lately I’ve been really into Maybelline, and particularly their lippies! This lifter gloss feels so much more luxe than a drug store gloss. It leaves lips soft and not sticky, with a lovely shine.
Scrunchie + Hair Clips
You’ll always find at least one scunchie in my bag at all times. They just come in so handy and you never know when you might need one! P.S. Poppy and Peonies has some cute ones and you get get 10% off with code YESMISSY10%
Glasses from BonLook
These are probably my favourite set glasses that you’ve seen me wearing on Instagram stories. In addition to vision correction they also have blue light protection.
L’Occitane Hand Cream
Fragrance Roller Balllaura
I always like to carry a scent in my bag and love the rollerballs because they’re so handy. A little fragrance always gives me a pick me up and makes me feel a little more put together! I recently got this set from Maison Margiela and love it!
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Correct and Brighten Concealer Duo Stick
I love this handy conceal and highlighter stick in one from Laura Mercier. The stick formula makes it to cover up any spots where makeup as worn off and make quick touchups throughout the day.
Selfie Stick Tripod
You never know where you might see a cute spot for a photo. So I carry out this self stick tripod with me always. It comes with a built in remote and just makes it easy to take impromptu pictures on your own.
Masks are a must everywhere these days, so I alway make sure I have a couple in my bag.
Louis Vuitton Card Holder
This simple card holder holds my basic cards, but I also love that this has a button pocket for me to throw in change or little things.
Last but not least, I have my keys. Which are nothing fancy, but daily essential.
Well there you have it! Everything that fit in my new bag and plus a little review of my new Saint Laurent Loulou bag!
