My latest addiction has been preloved designer handbags. I’m on bag #4 right now and my next bag will likely be a preloved one as well.

It all began a year ago when I bought my first vintage Chanel preloved. And since then I’ve been hooked.

Reasons to Buy Preloved Designed Bags

The preloved/vintage/used market for designer bags has really grown over the last few years! Now there are many reputable online retailers where you can safely shop authentic used bags and provide verification for it.

With the revival of everything y2k, it’s no surprise that vintage handbag styles have been in high demand as well! From Fendi’s Zucca print and Chanel’s signature branding, to Gucci‘s house monogram and Prada’s classic, inverted triangle logo plate, retro purses are all over TikTok and Instagram.

There are so many reasons to consider going to the preloved route when it comes to designer handbags and I’m sharing some of mine below.

1. Buying Preloved Designer Bags Are Cheaper

Buying vintage and preloved bags are cheaper than purchasing your designer handbags new. So if you’re looking to save some money than second hand is the way to go.

Over the last few years. there have been some atrocious price hikes with Chanel and Louis Vuitton, and many other designers have followed in suit.

Luxury designer bags come at a premium price when they’re brand new. Handbags are items that tend to hold up well over time, so buying them preloved you’ll be able to save on the price for something that’s timeless and more affordable.

Plus, when you choose to resell them, you’ll likely be able to get what you paid for your handbag. It’s much like buying a used car, where the bulk of the depreciation has already occurred.

2. Support a more sustainable fashion industry

Fashion has become of the most wasteful industries over the last couple decades. And as we’ve become more aware of the situation, there has been a huge movement towards more sustainable fashion practices.

Purchasing preloved has a big positive social and environmental impact. It helps to reduce carbon emissions, save resources like, water, and energy while also preventing old clothing from ending up in landfills while extending the life of current items in the cycle.

3. Preloved Designer Bags are Unique

One of the things I love most about buying vintage and preloved designer bags is the fact that they are unique!

Each preloved bag has a story to it since it’s had another life. And that’s something I love so much.

You’ll also find styles that are rare or no longer sold, so you there’s less chance you’ll run into someone having the same bag as you.

4. Vintage designer bags are fun to shop for

The thrill of the search is also adds to the fun of shopping preloved!

When you’re shopping for preloved and vintage designer bags, you never know what you’re going to find, or when you’re going to find it.

And because there is only one, if you find something you love you’ll have to jump on it. There have been a couple times I took too long and missed out. But that’s part of the fun as well! There are always treasures to be found.
