Wide leg jeans are a denim trend that I’m loving right now! But I know they can be intimidating if you’re not use to wearing them.

But as it turns out they’re pretty darn flattering on all body types from petite to curvy.

So to celebrate my new found love of wide leg denim I’ve style them 4 ways in 4 outfits to show you how versatile they are and easy to wear!

What to Wear With Wide Leg Jeans

Tips for how to wear wide leg jeans

Being petite, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical of wearing wide leg jeans. But as it turns out wide leg jeans for petites (as well as most body types) can be quite flattering.

The key is to get a pair of high rise wide leg jeans. This will help to elongate your figure while hugging you in all the right places to create dimension for the overall silhouette.

Deciding what shoes to wear with wide leg jeans was another initial challenge. But after some experimenting, I found you can pretty much wear any shoe with them! Sneakers, pumps, loafers, mules, booties – in this post I’ve styled them with 4 different type of shoes, and just to show you how versatile they are.

The key to not making it look sloppy is having your wide leg jeans hemmed correctly to the right length. They should never be dragging on the ground. Check on this post for more tips on how to hem correctly hem your jeans to the right length.

As for what tops to wear with wide leg jeans, this is pretty flexible as well. I’ve seen wide leg jeans outfits worn with everything from fitted crop tops to baggy tees. However, my personal preference is to wear something fitted or with a little more structure to give the outfit a little more shape.

Classic Chic Wide Leg Jeans Outfit
with Button Down Shirt

A classic button down shirt can take you practically everywhere and option almost everyone already has. It’s a great top to wear with wide leg jeans and adds an instant chic factor to the look.

To complete this wide leg jeans outfit, I’ve style it with a pair of leather strap heeled sandals and added simple cross body bag with chain strap.

I’ve kept my accessories pretty simple here and I’m wearing hoop earrings, a Scorpio pendent necklace and chain bracelet from Rellery.

Workwear Inspired Wide Leg Jeans Outfit
with Blazer & Pumps

If you’re looking to dress up your wide leg jeans, wearing a blazer will instantly dress up the outfit. Wide leg jeans often look very casual, so I love how the blazer adds some structure to elevate the outfit.

For my shoes, I’ve worn my wide leg jeans with a pair of tortoise shell pumps, but then accessories it down a little with a brown saddle bag to make this look more wearable for every day.

Summer Outfit with Platform Sandals

I’ve been loving this sleeveless turtleneck top lately! (As you might have spotted in this post for tops to wear with white jeans here.) It’s flattering with almost everything including wide leg jeans! I love how it helps to elongate the body for a more slimming silhouette.

For this weekend wide leg jeans outfit, I’ve style it with some these Perla platform sandals from Cougar to keep things casual, but comfy and give a little bit of height as well.

Casual Look with Sneakers

Wearing wide leg jeans and with sneakers is a great casual look. This is something I would wear for everyday errand running, it’s comfy and cute a little bit more of a upgrade than a regular coupling of jeans and a t-shirt.

Here I’ve style high rise wide leg jeans and sneakers with a short sleeve cardy for a summery feel. And added a tote to hold all my daily essentials while I’m out getting things done!
