This DIY cinnamon vanilla candle tutorial is an easy way to cozy up your home for the cold weather season. With the scent of warm vanilla and cinnamon, these candles not only smell great, but it make a beautiful decorative accessory for your home as well!
This tutorial is a fun little DIY craft to do right now whilte we’re stuck at home. It’s super easy to make, and only requires a few materials. Best of all you don’t even need to to pour your own candle wax for this tutorial, which also makes it a great craft for kids too!

It’s simply made by using a vanilla pillar candle and surrounding it with cinnamon sticks. As the candle burns, it will warm up the cinnamon sticks and releasing the scent of vanilla and cinnamon into the air!
Materials and tools:
- Vanilla pillar candle – these ones here are great and come in a set of 3!
- Cinnamon sticks – these ones are so flavourful and aromatic!
- Elastic bands
- Twine
- Ribbon
- Scissors
Instructions for DIY cinnamon vanilla candles
Step 1: Place an elastic band around the bottom of the candle. Slide it up a couple inches so that it sits in the middle of the candle. Make sure that the elastic lays flat with no twists against the candle.
Step 2: Carefully slide in the cinnamon sticks behind the elastic band, one at a time.
Step 3: Fill in the cinnamon sticks all the way around your candle until there are no gaps left.
Step 4: Wrap your twine around the the candle 5-6 times to cover the elastic band.
Step 5: Once you have covered the elastic, tie off the ends of the twine in a double knot. Then tuck the knot under the other strands of twine to hide it.
Step 6: You can leave it with just the twine if you like, but adding a ribbon is a nice touch to polish off the candle. Simply wrap the ribbon around the candle and over the twine, then tie into a bow.
Step 7: Here are your finished DIY cinnamon vanilla scented candles!
