We all know that we should wear sunscreen every day, but do you really? I know I’m guilty of skipping out from time to time. On a hot humid day the last thing I want to do is put another layer of product on my face. But the fact is more than 90 percent of the visible skin changes associated with aging are caused by the sun’s ultraviolet rays makes it a fact that sunscreen is pretty much a daily necessity.
But these days there’s a whole world of science that’s dedicated to creating sunscreens so that they make them so comfortable and wearable, you may actually like wearing it. Here are are a few that I’ve personally tested out and have come out at the top of the list.
Keep reading to see which sunscreens made the cut…
The Origins GinZing™ SPF 40 Energy-Boosting Tinted Moisturizer is my daily favourite. This sunscreen is perfect for those with normal to dryer skin types since I find it to be a little more moisturizing. This tinted sunscreen moisturizer leaves skin looking radiant, energized, and glowing. It comes out of the tube grayish but easily melts into the skin and gives you a lovely, subtle tint. I love lightweight feel and how provides a little moisture than the average sunscreen, but I find it stays fairly matte throughout the day without drying out my skin (as some sunscreens do). The light natural coverage it provides evens out the skin tone with a slight highlight so my skin has a healthy glow. It’s perfect for those days you don’t wear makeup but don’t want to be bare faced either. A little mascara and lip gloss and your good to go.
Sunscreen Features & Benefits: broad band sunscreen, lightweight, good for normal and dry skin types, hydrates, oil-free, tinted, good for sensitive skin types, light-coverage.
The Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 sunscreen has a been a long time favorite for me. It’s a tinted sunscreen with 100% mineral filter that provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. It has a light texture and has weightless feel so it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any extra product. It glides on smoothly and doesn’t pill when I apply it over my other skincare products. I find it to be very effective as far as a sunscreen goes and doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin after application. It provides a light natural coverage and gives my skin glowy luminous finish. Whenever I need a little more coverage, I just mix it with a few drops of my favorite foundation.
Sunscreen Features: mineral based, physical sunblock, chemical free, paraben free, lightweight, good for oily types, lasting UV protection, tinted, evens skin tone, non-greasy, good for sensitive skin types, light coverage.
This is my go-to sunscreen when I’m looking for a for coverage and protection. The Shiseido Sports BB is both a sunscreen and makeup in one. As a beauty balm, it provides more coverage than the first 2 and does a great job to camouflage uneven skin texture and imperfections, all while being super light-weight. It’s also great for sun playing sports and working out. With the innovative WetForce technology, I find it really stays put, which is great for those hot sweaty summer days so you can still look good while you sweat.
Sunscreen Features & Benefits: broad band sunscreen, super-lightweight, good for normal and oil skin types, oil-free, tinted, full coverage, sweat proof, waterproof, long-lasting, transfer resistant, lasting coverage.
The Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Sunscreen is a sunscreen for both the face and body, so this is super handy when you traveling and on-the-go just want to pack one sunscreen product in your bag. I really love the feeling of this formula, it goes on smoothly and has a hydrating finish. I often find most drugstore sunscreens to be drying and leave a white cast on your skin, but this is definitely not one of them. The formula of this sunscreen formula hydrates to keep skin soft, while being oil-free, fast absorbing, noncomedogenic, and sweat and water-resistant for 80 minutes. It also has a light fragrant scent to it that’s pleasant, but not overwhelming and helps keep skin soft, smooth and naturally healthy looking.
Sunscreen Features & Benefits: broad band sunscreen, hydrating, good for most skin types, oil-free, waterproof, long-lasting, lightly scented.
Aside from the Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Sunscreen, the Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is my next favorite body sunscreen. The gentle mineral formula is great for sensitive skin, and it’s free of free of fragrance, parabens, phthalates, dyes, and irritating chemicals. It’s easy to apply and absorbs well into the skin. It also has Dry-Touch technology ensures that this sunscreen dries with a non-greasy, lightweight finish. There is also a version for the face that’s really great as well.
Sunscreen Features & Benefits: Mineral sunscreen, good for sensitive skin types, hypoallergenic, sweat and water resistant, non comedogenic, oil-free, dermatologist tested, free of fragrance, parabens, phthalates, dyes, and irritating chemicals.
When it comes to applying sunscreen, the number one area of that body people tend to skimp on sunscreen are the lips. Receiving just as much sun exposure as any other part of the body, the lips are a delicate area that require protection just as much as any other part of the body. The Shiseido UV Lip Color Splash Broad Spectrum SPF30 has an ultra nourishing formula that defends your lips against UV damage with a clear wash of fresh, transparent color. It’s easy to use, wear and reapply, and perfect for daily use and helps soothes chapped and protects against dryness. Wearing it feels comfortable, like regular lip balm, and with no fragrance or taste.
Sunscreen Features & Benefits: Broadband UV protection, gentle formula designed for lips, fragrance free, dermatologist tested, slightly tinted, moisturizing, easy to apply and reapply.
